Back from USPA Nationals 2011
November 8th, 2011
Thanks to everyone who has supported us this year! We had a great time in Arizona and flew more solidly than we have in the past three years. Thanks to Skydive Carolina , Freefall Photo, Skyventure Colorado , Ryan Risberg , and Sir Edmund Halley's for their support and help! And, thanks to everyone who helped support us through Kabarnival!, gave us advice, or simply told us good luck. It means a lot to us!
Don't forget to email Kaboom! if you are interested in going with us to our tunnel camps. New dates will be announced soon and will include some time in Aspen on and above the slopes!
Until next time...

Kabarnival 2011
August 9th, 2011
Despite the clouds and rain, Kabarnival 2011 still came together and was a ton of fun! We have a ton of people to thank for helping with the event or donating prizes for the raffle. The first word of thanks goes to Nicole Broome. The Kabarnival was her idea. She organized the affair and we are grateful for all of the time, money, and hard work that went in to making this a really great party!
- Many thanks to Caronet and Sir Edmund Halley's for providing the kegs. It appeared that the beer drinkers were happy with the selections.
- Cindy Romeis, Karen Greco, and Michelle Sanger spent a lot of time getting prizes, snacks, and materials ready for the Kabarnival, as well as working throughout the party itself. Thanks ladies!
- Thanks to Tim Van Grillmaster and Rhinestone Zwicker for manning the grills, beer pong, and their general sassy attitudes.
- Kassie Diane went all out and became a Kabarnival clown. For those who weren't there, you missed out on some awe inspiring balloon art. Thanks Kass!
- Chris Romeis took care of the bounce house for us. Thanks for sitting through the rain and for getting it back the next day!
- Raffle prizes were awesome...what more can I say. Thanks to Blockhead, Elder Zwicker, Iron Boy, Fred Karr, Carolina Turbo XP, Robin Kellam, Rod Boden, and ATM for their gracious contributions to the raffle. For those who missed it, the list is in the flyer.
- Thanks go out to our home DZ Skydive Carolina. Without them we wouldn't have had much shelter or a place to have the party in the first place. Muchas Gracias!
Last, but certainly not least, thanks to all of our friends and family that came out and played games, bought tickets, and joined the general mayhem. Without you this would not have been a success. We appreciate the support more than you know and had a ridiculously good time partying with you Saturday!
We're thinking this is the beginning of an annual party and we plan to do it again next year only bigger and better. Email us or Facebook us let us know what you think about that. We learned a lot from this about what works in a DZ carnival setting and we plan to carry some of that over. It appeared that "Pants Off Dance Off" and "Win it in a Minute" were hits as well as the bounce house.
It became obvious that we need to make more weatherproof plans for next time. This includes but is not limited to water slides, slip-and-slide competition (swoop comp rules and optional 4x4 assist by Kaboomrad), inflatable gladiator games, and lots of either live or DJ'd music. Please email Kaboom! and let us know the things that you would like to see again, and any ideas for other games, food, prizes, or raffle items that get your juices flowing..
Until next time...

Back in the Tunnel
June 15th, 2011
We had some great coaching this past weekend with Ryan Risberg. We didn't expect for the compulsory rounds to change this year, but they did in May. After a couple of days working on the new requirements we are much more confident heading into the rest of the season.
We're off to Skyventure Colorado this Thursday for our next tunnel camp. Apparently Monsieur Risberg will be kicking our butts all over the tunnel while telling us that it's because he cares. Howie and Connor are going with us on this trip. Have you met Howie? He's like the Tony Hawk of skydiving, and he won a free hour of tunnel time in the SVCO "duck drop" raffle at Carolinafest. Howie will be available for 2nd shift freefly coaching when he gets back to Skydive Carolina.
Don't forget to email Kaboom! if you are interested in going with us to our August tunnel camp. For those that have already expressed interest don't forget the dates have changed to August 12th-14th.
Until next time...

June and August 2011 Tunnel Camp
Posted May 17th, 2011
Join Carolina Kaboom for our next two tunnel camps at Skyventure Colorado, June 17th-19th and August 12th-14th. Tunnel coach extraordinaire Ryan Risberg will be coaching all aspects of body flight from AFF/AFP students to advanced free flying. Coached tunnel flying is the most cost-effective method to build your skills and muscle memory as quickly as possible. Thanks to Skydive Carolina’s relationship with SVCO the rate for team camps is only $800/hour and includes coaching. This offer is extended to anyone who books time via the teams. In addition to this phenomenal rate, there are additional discounts available for new flyers.
All offers include free coaching and video of your time in the tunnel.
For Students
- Current AFP students from Skydive Carolina get their first 30 minutes at half price!
- When you graduate AFP at Skydive Carolina you get 10 minutes for free!
- When you get your A-License at Skydive Carolina you get 10 minutes for free!
For Experienced Jumpers
- Any jumper from Skydive Carolina who already has their A license but has less than 100 jumps and has never been to Skyventure Colorado gets 10 minutes free!
- All other jumpers get the team rate of $800/hour!
Why SVCO you ask? Flights into the Denver airport are cheap and you’re only 30 minutes from the tunnel. Tight on cash? No need for a rental car as the light rail will take you from the airport to a station conveniently located 1 mile from the tunnel. There is an inexpensive hotel, multiple restaurants, and a movie theater all within walking distance of the tunnel. A short light rail ride will take you to downtown Denver; the drop zone and the spectacular Rocky Mountains are also a short ride away. Oh and did we mention the extraordinary coaching talents of Ryan Risberg?
Email Kaboom!
if you are interested in going with us. Check out the Facebook event invites for
June
and
August
and let us know if you want to join!

Coach Comes to NC
Posted May 6th, 2011
This past weekend we had a great time training in the sky with Ryan Risberg. He was as awesome a sky coach as he is a tunnel coach. Thanks to Ryan, Skyventure Colorado, and Skydive Carolina for all they have done to help our team and dropzone. We're pumped up already and it's only May!
We have a couple of training weekends coming up and then will break to enjoy Carolinafest 2011. For those of you not familiar, it's one of the best boogies around with a list of organizers that would be very difficult to rival. Space is limited and there are only 9 days left for pre-registrations. See here for details.
No rest for the wicked! We are heading back to Skyventure Colorado the 17th-19th of June for another awesome tunnel camp. Anyone interested in attending let us know ASAP. Coached hours by Ryan Risberg are $800. This camp is for anyone that wants badass coaching for any discipline and skill level. Email us if you are interested in attending or have any questions.
Until next time...

Bring on 2011!
Posted April 25th, 2011
2011 is here and Kaboom! is excited to begin training again. We're also looking forward to training with the other teams that will be at Skydive Carolina this year. The Carolina Ragamuffins are a new addition to the Carolina crew bringing freestyle to the mix. The team is made up of Jessica Spreng as the performer and Alex Bittner on video. Good luck this year Ragamuffins we look forward to training and hanging with you this season!
We just got back from an awesome training weekend at Skyventure Colorado. Ryan Risberg coached us for 6 hours over the course of 4 days. To say it was an awesome experience would be an understatement. We grew by leaps and bounds throughout the camp and found ourselves doing things we didn't know we could do. There were a few moments where Ryan brought in Brad Cole to fly some 4-way VFS randoms with us. It would be hard to pick any one thing and say it was our favorite part, but that certainly goes up high on the list. Watch out Outlaws , we're coming for you.
Many thanks to Ryan, Brad, and the whole crew at SVCO. Everyone was extremely welcoming, helpful, and encouraging. We didn't get to see too much of Colorado on this trip as we pretty much just ate and slept after flying all day in the tunnel. However, we plan to explore a bit more our next time out there and we're looking to take jumpers of all skill levels and disciplines back with us for weekend camps. Email Kaboom! if you are interested in going with us. We are looking to head back to Colorado in June.
This weekend we will be training with Ryan in the sky at Skydive Carolina.. Ryan will be doing coaching and organizing all weekend for all disciplines. Come on out and play!
Until next time...
